With the Great British Bake Off final airing this week, interest in baking reaches its peak. Baking brings back fond memories for many people, learning to bake alongside their Granny for example. It can sometimes seem like a much more difficult process than cooking is. You have all that extra measuring, extra precision and extra steps. However, our tips will help you streamline your baking and make it a regular feature in your kitchen again. I know all about how daunting baking can seem, I decided to bake my own wedding cake… A great idea in theory,  but in reality, with a month to go to D-Day, this Bride-to-Be was...

New Season Tableware

Nothing lifts a dinner party or afternoon tea better than a gorgeous tableware to show off the culinary masterpieces you have produced. Who among us doesn’t have one or two different sets for different occasions? Or is that just me… I will admit the long-suffering Mr Kitchen Buyer has often looked at me sideways when tasked with getting the spring-dinnerware out of the top press! But there is just something about tableware that I love and I especially love to change it up. What you dress your table with can be a wonderful way to express your personality, highlight an occasion or simply show off the food. If showing off...

Football isn’t the only thing France are Champions of!

Football isn’t the only thing France are Champions of! I’m sure we all know by now that France were victorious this weekend in a little competition called The World Cup. Having followed the French team with interest throughout I was in the mood for some French food for dinner last night. Luckily, French cooking is some of the tastiest out there and when it comes to cookware, it is hard to be the French classic, Le Creuset. So I dug the casserole out of the press, raided the fridge to see what I could rustle up and a version of the classic Chicken Fricassee was born.   A delicious and...

You Guac My World

You Guac My World Guacamole or Guac as it’s fondly known, a dip made from avocados, is originally from Mexico. The name is derived from two Aztec Nahuatl words—ahuacatl (avocado) and molli (sauce). All you really need to make guacamole is ripe avocados and salt. After that, a little lime or lemon juice—a splash of acidity— will help to balance the richness of the avocado. Then if you want, add chopped cilantro, chilies, onion, and/or tomato.   The trick to making perfect guacamole is using good, ripe avocados. Check for ripeness by gently pressing the outside of the avocado. If there is no give, the avocado is not ripe yet...

Living with Lisa – Evenings in the Garden

Hi Everyone,  It is so wonderful to be asked to write about my passion which is interiors. I have as you all may know a slight penchant for all things red carpet & showbiz in my day to day life, but when the heels come off and the jammies come on plus there’s a cuppa in hand, all I want is HOME. A home for me is a feeling, a sanctuary where I feel very blessed because not only am I a homeowner but I LOVE my home. I have formed a strong bond over the past decade with interiors and for me I think it stems from my father’s...
