Update Your Master Bedroom

Your bedroom is your sanctuary, your safe space, your retreat from everything else at the end of the day, so here at Meadows and Byrne, we are offering our design tips to ensure your bedroom is the haven you deserve.

1. Choose a great rug for style & warmth

Let’s start with one of the most troublesome areas for a lot of people; rugs. Rugs can be tricky in bedrooms but here are a few of our rules and guidelines that should help you out.

If you have room for a rug in your bedroom, you want to choose between two main options; your rug will either go underneath your entire bed, and should have room on either side to stand on in the morning, or else choose a runner-style rug which lie on either side of the bed.

The Timo ivory rug is a large rug which is perfect to go under a bed up to size super king bed and is a gentle ivory shade of wool with woven pale blue bamboo silk to break up the design. It sits well in both coastal style rooms and also works fantastically with a grey palette.

If you want to use your rug to add some interest along with comfort to your room, the Avery rug is the perfect choice. It features a stunning geometric woven design and is hand finished with plaited tassels- this one is sure to make your mornings a little easier. It comes in two sizes- 140x200cm and 160x230cm, so is ideal for a double or king leaving about 40cm either side for stepping out onto.

If you are opting for a runner-style rug, there is nothing as luxurious as a sheepskin rug. We carry a double version as well as a quarto which is perfect for running along the side of your bed. The sheepskin really is a timeless product, and you can be sure of the quality as each rug is sourced from our local Munster supplier.

2. Treat yourself to the best of bed linen

Bed linen is the perfect way to add some personality and colour to your bedroom. The new Harvest Garden set is the perfect set to add to your room as they evenings get shorter. It features a floral design but in deeper autumnal shades and is delicately piped with a deep mulberry trim to add detail.

For the more Scandinavian, minimal look, the Murmur Scribble bed linen set is in the perfect shade of warm grey and features a modern graphic design which makes this set both versatile and interesting.

The Murmur Sora set in Eucalyptus is along the same vein as the Scribble set, featuring a delicate geometric pattern in a gentle duck egg tone. It is an excellent choice to give your bedroom a fresh look, especially teamed with the Chambray Eucalyptus Square pillow cover.

3. Add a extra layers

During the colder months, a bedspread is such an important investment, and ensuring your bedspread is large enough to cover your bed is so important. We carry a range of bedspreads in soothing and neutral tones that are generous in size so you can be sure it is draping over the side of your bed- 240x260cm. The Olivia bedspread comes in two colour ways and features a painterly circle motif. It acts as a great way to upgrade a plain bed linen set and add some colour and pattern to your bedroom.

Accent cushions are also a wonderful way to add that extra layer of cosiness! Choose complementing colours in a variety of textures from velvets to linen for the ultimate stylish, comfortable touch.

You would be surprised what a few soft furnishings can do to give your bedroom a whole new look and feel. Make your room your own and enjoy your downtime in your updated sanctuary.
